INDIANAPOLIS — Chip Ganassi Racing has signed Christian Lundgaard to a multiyear contract to drive the No. 9 PNC Bank Honda in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES beginning in 2027.

Lundgaard, 25, finished a career-best third in the 2026 INDYCAR championship standings. He won races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course and Road America this season.

The Danish driver has three career INDYCAR victories, 16 podium finishes and 21 top-five finishes in 87 starts.

Lundgaard will join Alex Palou and Kyffin Simpson as part of Chip Ganassi Racing’s 2027 driver lineup.

Lundgaard made his INDYCAR debut in 2021 after spending three seasons in Formula 2. He won multiple races and recorded nine podium finishes in F2 before moving to INDYCAR.

He earned his first INDYCAR podium in 2022 and won his first race in Toronto in 2023, becoming the first Danish driver to win an INDYCAR race.

Lundgaard also earned his first podium on an oval in 2026.

“It is an honor and a privilege to join Chip Ganassi Racing beginning next season,” Lundgaard said. “The fact that it is in the iconic No. 9 PNC Bank Honda makes it even more special.”

PNC Bank will continue as the primary sponsor of the No. 9 Honda. PNC has partnered with Chip Ganassi Racing since 2013 and has been the primary sponsor of the No. 9 since 2018.

Chip Ganassi Racing has won 18 INDYCAR championships since 1996.
