LONDON (AP) — UK police
have arrested five men near an air base used by the US during its war against Iran. They’re suspected of preparing a terrorist act. The Metropolitan Police, leading the investigation, said the men were initially arrested under the Explosives Act. Police received a call about three suspicious vehicles near RAF Fairford. The men were arrested in the Whelford area. A 400-meter cordon is in place, and around 85 households have been evacuated. The situation appears contained, but the proximity to the base has raised speculation about a connection. The arrests come amid heightened tensions with hostile states.
