Two people are dead and a Hanska woman is facing criminal charges following a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning near Hanska.
The Brown County Attorney’s Office has charged 28-year-old Shianne Lee Escobar with two counts of criminal vehicular homicide. Investigators allege Escobar was driving under the influence and negligently when the crash occurred.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called shortly after midnight to Brown County Road 13, just north of Brown County Road 22.
Authorities say Escobar was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado when it collided with a 1997 Oldsmobile 88 driven by 73-year-old Paul Rewitzer.
Rewitzer and his 74-year-old wife, Paulette, both of Hanska, died at the scene.
Escobar was taken to New Ulm Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol continue to investigate the crash.
